Belly shots: 22 weeks August 27, 2008

Since I’m wearing the same outfit today as the Week 19 belly shots, I thought it would be good to snap some more pics for history’s sake. Oh, how we’ve grown in three weeks…

Full disclosure: It’s either the growing baby OR one too many chocolate chip cookies from Sweet Martha’s… (and most likely a little of both). Locals, get ‘em hot and fresh while you can!

There’s also been lots of movement going on this week. Kinda like little flutters… I think he or she is telling me it’s time to buy more maternity clothes and stop putting the squeeze on.

I’ve seen that foot before August 19, 2008

Ahhhhh, there’s nothing like a few grainy, hard-to-read, black and white images to get a pair of rookie parents really excited!!! Or, errrr, something like that…

Here are two pics from this morning’s ultrasound… You can get a feel for Baby’s profile in the first image:

And in this one, you can imagine the kicking that I’ll soon be feeling:

Funny thing is, that lil’ foot looks EXACTLY like the one that was dangling from our sofa last week, watching Michael Phelps rack up his golds, complete with the signature “big toe” I like to tease about. It’s Joe’s foot, to a “T.” I’m not even kidding.

We had two appointments today — my regular monthly OB checkup (all looks good!) and our second ultrasound, this time at 21 weeks. The ultrasound was somewhat anti-climatic, since we’ve never been through the process before. We both walked out admitting we expected to see more closeups and really get a feel for his or her profile. We learned it’s just too early to see a lot of that detail. Most importantly though, everything checked out great and Baby C is very healthy.

Ooooooh… I cannot wait to smooch those little toes!

We heart Irish Fair August 11, 2008

Minnesota’s Irish Fair took place at Harriett Island in St. Paul over the weekend… We. LOVE. Irish. Fair. We first went in August 2006, and finally made it back this year.

I’m sure it doesn’t come close to similar festivals in Chicago, Boston or other large cities, but St. Paul does one up just fine. The weather was postcard perfect… There were three stages of live music (we were impressed by the Sweet Colleens and will definitely look for them again at a Twin Cities venue!). Of course there were also numerous Guinness and Summit taps EVERYWHERE. Joe let me smell his beers. That helped hurt a little.

Near the stands of fantastic silver jewelry for sale, we spotted some hilarious T-shirts. And this one was our hands-down favorite:

Seriously, if either one of us had ANY Irish heritage, we woulda’ been all over it… Have a great week!

Belly shots: 19 weeks August 8, 2008

This one’s for you, KJ and Carolina… I’ve been super shy about posting a belly shot, but you haven’t given up asking to see it. Right now, Baby C only weighs about 7 or 8 ounces. So by my accounts what you’re seeing is guaranteed to be pure, lovely, extra poundage.

Yikes, here goes…

And, the full Monty…

Starting the kid off right August 5, 2008

Filed under: Family and Friends, futbol — JR-C @ 6:52 pm

Special thanks to my friend Amy, who was home from Austria for three weeks visiting family and friends. As in Austria, co-host of the 2008 European Soccer Championships…

She presented me with a special gift: Baby C’s first futbol! ;-)

Sorry this snapshot is so blurry… But here it is, a mini soccer ball with the official ‘08 logo. We love it! And it looks great in the nursery already.

Vielen Dank, Fam. Mueller!

‘Pregnancy Brain’ is for real August 1, 2008

I’m not even kidding. First, I read about how I’ll become more forgetful during pregnancy and giggled, thinking it odd. Then, it started happening. A lot. What, you ask? This!

Take Wednesday night, when I got home from spinning class at 6:30ish. I was about to water the flowers, and then it hit me — I’d left my keys (house and office) on my desk. Yes, LOCKED UP at work. Joe was at his place of work until at least midnight. Arrrrrrrghhhh. What to do? I stalled by going to dinner in the neighborhood, then meeting him outside his work at 7:45, when he was able to get away and bring me his key.

It might have been excusable if that wasn’t at least the fifth time in the last 2 or 3 weeks I’d done the same thing. Luckily, each time I’d done it before, Joe happened to be at home. (Yes, yes, we are planning to “stash” a key somewhere very soon, before I decide to do this again!)

But that’s not my only brush with “Pregnancy Brain,” and I’m sure it won’t be the last. Recently I went to Panera for lunch, since I was craving their Asian Chicken Salad. But by the time I reached the counter to order, I must have forgotten the purpose for my trip in the first place. I ordered the chicken noodle soup instead, maybe due to my old routine during many Sundays spent studying there???

It didn’t even hit me until they called my name… I looked at the tray, saw soup and frowned. Oh yeah, I wanted the salad! It’s one of the goofiest things I’ve done… to date.
